Drug description
Ampicillin represents an antibiotic in the penicillin group of medicaments. It prescribed for fighting the bacteria in your body. Ampicillin is prescribed for the treatment of a sufficient number of infections the reason for which is bacteria, such as ear infections, urinary bladder infections, inflammation of lungs, gonorrhea, and E. coli or salmonella infection.
Intake Instruction
Ampicillin is prescribed for taking under your doctors’ control.
Please take the medicine by mouth at least one-half hour before or 2 hours after eating.
Please make sure to intake the medicine with a full glass of water (8 oz/240 mL).

Drug Category and Mechanism
Ampicillin represents a category of penicillin antibiotic. The medicine functions via killing sensitive bacteria by interfering with formation of the bacteria's cell wall in the process of its growing. This weakens the cell wall and it ruptures resulting in the death of the bacteria.
Missed Dose
Should you miss a dose of this medicine please take it asap. If you find you have missed the previous dosage when it is almost time for your next dose, you should better skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Taking double or extra doses at once is not recommended. If more than one dose is missed, please contact your attending medical doctor or health care provider.
Storage
The best conditions to keep the medicine at are to store them room temperature 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C). The container where the medicine is stored should be tightly closed. It should be also strictly protected from moisture, heat and light.

There are some MEDICINES which MAY step into INTERACTTION with Ampicillin . Please inform your health care for any other medicines, especially any of the following:
Tetracyclines (eg, doxycycline) as they may lower Ampicillin 's effectiveness
Allopurinol as the risk of skin rash can be made higher.
Anticoagulants (heparin, warfarin) or methotrexate as the risk of their side effects may be increased by Ampicillin
Aminoglycosides or birth control pills as their effectiveness may be lowered by Ampicillin
Probable Side Effects
All medicines may become the reason for side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. Please inform your health care provider if any of these most COMMON side effects are becoming bothersome:
Conflagration and redness of the tongue; extra sensibility of mouth or throat; mild diarrhea; emesis; second infection; vomiting.
Please inform your health care provider if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of these severe side effects are applicable to you.
Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; hard breathing; tenseness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); bloody excretion; austere diarrhea; stomach pain/cramps; vaginal fret or discharge.
