Drug Uses
FML Forte is taken for the swelling, warmth, redness, pain of both the eyes and the eyelids.
How Taken
Take FML Forte as directed by your doctor.
- It should be shaken before every use.
- One should wash hands and tilt the head back. The lower eyelid should be pulled back from the eye with the index finger to make a pouch. The medicine should be dropped into the pouch and the eyes should be closed gently. The finger should be applied to put pressure on the eye and one should not blink for I or 2 minutes. The excess medicine should be removed with a clean tissue. The hands should be washed to remove any excess medicine. The tip of the applicator should not be touched to prevent any germs from contaminating the medicine and the lid should be closed tightly.
- Soft contact lenses should not be used when one is using this medicine. The lenses should be sterilized according to the manufacturer’s instructions and a doctor must be contacted before using them
- If the doctor has directed more then one medicine for the eye the person should consult the doctor the order in which he should use them.

Drug Class and Mechanism
FML Forte is a corticosteroid and many are unaware of how it works.
Missed Dose
If one misses a dose it should be taken as soon as possible and if it is time for the next dose the missed dose should be skipped and the regular dose be continued. One should not take two doses at one time.
Storage
FML Forte should be stored between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C) and the drug can be briefly stored between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C). The drug should be kept away from heat, moisture, light, pets and children. It should not be stored in the bathroom.
Warnings Precautions
FML Forte should not be used if
- One is allergic to any ingredient in FML Forte;
- One has a viral infection of the eye e.g., herpes, or a fungal or tuberculosis infection of the eye, or certain untreated eye infections for e.g., infections producing pus or discharge), or vaccina or chickenpox infection.
If the above applies to a person one should consult the doctor immediately.
Important:
- The drug may cause blurred vision and so one should not drive, operate machinery, or do not do anything that can be dangerous until one knows how he reacts to FML
- The doctor should be consulted immediately if there is no improvement in condition
- Lab tests and eye pressure tests must be performed to monitor the person’s progress.
- This drug should be used with caution for children younger then 2 years. The safety and the effectiveness of the drug for them have not been proved.
- One should consult the doctor if one is pregnant or has plans to become pregnant or is breast feeding a baby. It is unknown if breast feeding in excreted in breast milk.
Possible Side Effects
The doctor should be consulted if:
* There is blurred vision; taste changes; temporary burning or stinging.
One should consult a doctor when
* There is allergic reactions like rash; hives; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue; changes in vision; continuing blurred vision; discharge from eyes; eye pain, itching, redness, swelling, irritation, or sores that were not present prior to using this medicine.
