Use Instruction
Actonel is prescribed for treating and preventing osteoporosis in several patients. The medicine may be used for other conditions as well thus necessarily determined by your health care provider.
Intake instructions
This medicine should be taken under your health care provider’s prescription and control. Please make sure to check the label on the medicine and find information concerning exact dosing.
Pleas choose 2 days in a row in the period of which you will be taking Actonel . Make sure to take 1 tablet in the morning of the first day. The second tablet should be taken in the morning of the next day.
Please ensure taking more than 2 tablets of Actonel in a month unless your doctor prescribes you otherwise.
Please swallow Actonel a whole. Remember that you should not break, crush, or chew the tablets before swallowing.
Taking Actonel is recommended with a full glass of plain water (6 to 8 oz/180 to 240 mL). You should not take Actonel with mineral water, coffee, tea, milk, or juice. You should not lie down for thirty minutes after you have taken the medicine before you eat your first food during the day.
Please make sure to check the label on the medicine and find information concerning exact dosing.
You should not stop taking Aciphex even I case you feel improvement. Make sure to take all doses. If more than one dose is missed, please contact your attending medical doctor or health care provider.
Drug Category and Mechanism
Actonel represents a category of bisphosphonate. It functions by slowing bone loss.
What if I find I have missed a dose?
Should you miss a dose of this medicine please take it asap. If you find you have missed the previous dosage when it is almost time for your next dose, you should better skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Taking double or extra doses at once is not recommended. If more than one dose is missed, please contact your attending medical doctor or health care provider.
Storage
The best conditions to keep the medicine at are to store them room temperature 77 degrees F (25 degrees C). The container where the medicine is stored should be tightly closed. It should be also strictly protected from moisture, heat and light. Any unused medicine the expiration date have passed should be thrown away.
Safety Precautions
Taking the medicine is not recommended in case:
You have allergy to any component in Actonel.
you are not able to stand / sit upright for at least 30 minutes;
you have low blood calcium levels or censorious kidney problems.
Please consult with your health care provider immediately if any of these safety tips are applicable to you.
Actonel may cause giddiness. This effect may become severe worse if you take it with alcohol or certain medicines. Use Actonel with precaution. Do not drive, use machinery, or do any actions which require mental alertness until you certainly inform how this medicine may affect you.
Please also inform your health care provider before you take alcohol, smoke, or use other tobacco products in the period you are taking Actonel.
Please follow the diet and health program provided to you by your health care provider. Also inform whether there is a necessity to take a calcium and vitamin D supplement in the period of treatment with Actonel.
Talk to your doctor about the use of weight-bearing exercises to help prevent weak bones.
Proper dental care is important while you use Actonel. Brush and floss your teeth and visit the dentist regularly.
Consult your health care provider or dentist on your use of Actonel before receiving any medical or dental care, emergency care, or surgery.
Actonel may intersect with certain lab tests. Please make sure your health care provider and lab personnel know you are taking Actonel.
Lab tests, including bone density and blood calcium levels, may be performed while you use Actonel . These tests may be used to control your condition as well as provide any check ups for side effects. Make sure to keep all health care and lab appointments.
Actonel cannot be used with extraordinary safety in children; effectiveness in children was not yet confirmed.
What should I inform my health care providers before I start to take this medicine?
They need to know if you have any of these conditions:
pregnant or planning to become
breast-feeding mothers
Please discuss the benefits and risks of treatment with Actonel in the period you are pregnant. It is not yey explored whether Actonel outbursts to breast milk. Thus stay away from breast-feeding while taking Actonel.
Probable Side Effects
All medicines may be reason for side effects, thus many people may undergo none, or minor, side effects. Please discuss with your health care provider if any of the mentioned most COMMON side effects afterglow or become or causing bother:
back pain; hard or no defecatory; diarrhea; dizziness; gas; pain in the head; articulation pain; moderate stomach pain or trouble; aversion.
