Parlodel lowers prolactin levels. Prolactin represents a hormone crucial for the production of breast milk as well as for normal fertility in women.
Parlodel is prescribed for the treatment of disorders such as amenorrhea (lack of a menstrual period), steadfast, breast milk production, barrenness, and other medical conditions connected with high prolactin levels caused by prolactin-secreting swelling in women and in men.
Parlodel is also prescribed for the treatment treat Parkinson's disease, which is relating to low levels of dopamine in the brain. Intake Instructions

Drug Category and Mechanism
Parlodel represents a category of a dopamine agonist. Missed Dose
Should you miss a dose of this medicine please take it asap. If you find you have missed the previous dosage when it is almost time for your next dose, you should better skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Taking double or extra doses at once is not recommended. If more than one dose is missed, please contact your attending medical doctor or health care provider.
Storage
Store Parlodel at 77 degrees F (25 degrees C). The container where the medicine is stored should be tightly closed. It should be also strictly protected from moisture, heat and light. Please make sure to retain the medicine away from pets and children.
Safety Precautions
Taking the medicine is not recommended in case:
you have allergic reactions to any component in Parlodel or to ergot alkaloids;
you are a breast-feeding mother;
you have unmonitored high blood pressure or advanced high blood pressure relating to pregnancy;
you have blood poisoning at the period of pregnancy;
you have closely delivered a child and have coronary artery disease (chest pain) or other austere heart failure;
you are taking Parlodel only for hyperprolactinemia and become pregnant.
Some medical conditions may interact with the medicine. Inform your health care provider or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following are applicable to you:
Crucial Information:
Do not drive, use machinery, or do any actions which require mental alertness until you certainly inform how this medicine may affect you.
Do not suddenly stop taking Parlodel without a preliminary check up with your health care provider.
If you are taking Parlodel for a brain swelling, stopping Parlodel may bring about to rapid regrowth of it. Please note that you should not stop taking Parlodel without preliminary talking with your health care provider.
Parlodel may low level the effectiveness of your birth control pill. To prevent pregnancy, make sure to use an additional form of birth control (eg, condoms) while using Parlodel.
Lab tests, involving blood pressure, liver and kidney function, heart function, and blood cell counts, may be executed to control your progress. Make sure to retain all doctor and lab appointments.
You should use Parlodel with extreme caution in children under 15 years of age. Safety and effectiveness in this age category have not been yet confirmed
Pregnancy and breast-feeding: In case you become pregnant, please make sure to consult your health care provider on the benefits and risks of using Parlodel during pregnancy. It is yet not explored if Parlodel outfalls into breast milk. Do not breast-feed while taking Parlodel.

austere allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; hard breathing; tenseness in the chest; tumor of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); uncommon involuntary movements; bloody or dark, tarry stools; chest pain; depression; fainting; delusions; one-sided weakness; continuos, watery nasal discharge; progressive, austere headache; hard breathing; ringing in the ears; convulsions; slurred speech or hard speaking; stomach pain; rapid and unexpected confusion; unexpected daytime sleepiness; unexpected loss of coordination; changes in vision; retching blood or a substance like coffee grounds.
