Drug Uses
Propecia is taken for treatment of hair loss in men.
How Taken
Take the medication as determined by your doctor. Read the medicine label for precise dosing instructions carefully.
As a rule, it is recommended to use one capsule a day. Take Propecia by mouth with food or without it. Do not miss any doses of the medication. Ken for a three-month period of time. As soon as Propecia therapy is for the benefits to be noticeable. Once treatment is broken off, all positive results will fade away.
Drug Class and Mechanism
Propecia is known to prevent testosterone transformation to DHT (dihydrotestosterone) in human organism. Dihydrotestosterone is associated with BPH (benign prostatic hyperplasia) development and loss of hair. Propecia treats benign prostatic hyperplasia in males who suffer an enlarged prostate.
Missed Dose
Take this medicine as determined by your doctor. If you omit a dose of Propecia, take it immediately. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up. Then go back to your usual schedule.
Storage
Keep Propecia at room temperature, between 20 and 25 degrees C (68 and 77 degrees F). Store it in a hermetic and light-resistant container. Save it away from light, heat and moisture. Do not store it in the bathroom. Keep Propecia beyond the reach of children and away from pets.
Warnings Precautions
You must not take Propecia if you are allergic to its ingredients. Inform your doctor immediately if you have/have had an allergic reaction to this medicine (or to Avodart). Children and women must not take Propeciaa. It is very dangerous for them by reason of being absorbed into the skin. Children and women must not even handle these capsules. In case children or women come into contact with Propecia tablets they should bathe the affected area immediately.
Contact your doctor immediately as soon as you observe any changes with your breast (eg., pain, lumps, discharge of nipples).
Sometimes certain medical conditions interact with Propecia. You should inform your health care provider or doctor if you take some other medicines, vitamins, herbs, minerals. If you want to begin to take some other meds inform your doctor about that.
Possible Side Effects
Ask for medical attention immediately in case any of these serious side effects take place:
serious allergic reactions (chest tightness; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue; rash; hives; difficulty breathing); changes with your breast (eg., pain, lumps, discharge of nipples).
Contact your doctor if any of these less severe side effects take place:
testicles pain; weakness; severe headache; rash of skin; impotence; irregular ejaculation; feet/hands swelling in your hands or feet; breast tenderness/swelling.
More Information
Propecia should be taken only by those patients for whom it is prescribed. You should not give it to others. If your symptoms become worse and do not improve, contact your doctor.
