Drug Uses
Evista prevents and treats osteoporosis (bone loss) in women after menopause. The medication maintains strong bones because it slows loss of bones. In such a way a fractures danger is reduced as wekk. This drug acts like estrogen in some body parts. Evista preserves mass of bones. At the same time this medicationt does not influence the uterus and breast. Evista should be used after menopause, not before it. Children must not use this drug.
How Taken
Evista should be taken by mouth once a day, with food or without it. Do not forget to take the medicine at the same time each day. Drug Class and Mechanism
It is known that hormone estrogen can regulate the process of bone formation/destruction. After menopause or after ovaries removal lowering of estrogen levels is observerable. This process leads to a bone loss, their density decreases and bones weaken. This state is known as an osteoporosis. Evista helps to decrease bone turnover and increase dencity of bone. Bones strengthen and as a result fractures are prevented in those women who suffer bone loss. Evista acts like estrogen on some tissues but at the same time the medication restrains estrogen effects on some other organs. Evista lowers LDL (low density lipoprotein) that is known as a bad cholesterol. At the same time this medication does not highten HDL ( high density lipoprotein) or good cholesterol.
Missed Dose
If you omit a dose of Evista, take it immediately. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up.
Storage
The US product should be saved at room temperature between 20-25 degrees C (68-77 degrees F) away from heat, light, moisture. products_description-term keeping between 15-30 degrees C (59-86 degrees F) is allowed as well. You should not store Evista in the bathroom.

Warnings Precautions
Sometimes certain medical conditions interact with Eviista . Tell your pharmacist or doctor in case you have some medical conditions. You should inform about the following:
history of blood clots (active or past).
The danger of blood clots may be increased by lack of movement. You will have to stop using Evista during long periods of inactivity or at least three days before some surgery. You should try to activate the blood flow in your body.
Inform your doctor or pharmacist in case you have allergies to its ingredients, or any other allergies. Inform your doctor or pharmacist about your medical history, especially if you have or have had:
heart failure, cancer, liver problems, high cholesterol levels, high triglyceride levels affected by estrogen therapy.
This medicine must not be taken during pregnancy because it may cause harm to human fetus. On condition you suspect you are pregnant, contact your doctor immediately. You should discuss all benefits and risks of taking Evista during your pregnancy. It is not known whether Evista passes into human breast milk. Stop breast-feeding while using this drug.
Possible Side Effects
Medicines may provoke certain side effects. Nevertherless, many people have no/ minor side effects. Contact your doctor if any of these side effects take place:
increased sweating, hot flashes, sweating, cramps of legs. Contact your doctor as soon as possible in case any of these serious side effects take place:
leg pain, leg swelling, pain in chest,trouble breathing, vision problems.
If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Evista is to be used only by those patient for whom it is prescribed by a doctor. Do not share it with other people.
If your symptoms become worse and do not improve, contact your doctor.
Vaginal bleeding of unknown reason may be a sign of a serious condition that requires instant medical attention.
Follow your doctor's instructions for your breasts examining carefully. You should examine your breasts regularly and contact your doctor if you notice some unusual changes.
Laboratory tests may be performed when you take Evista. Such tests, including breast and pelvic tests, a Pap test, help to control your health condition and check side effects. You may also be adviced to check your bone density and levels of blood minerals. You should not avoid all laboratory and doctor appointments.
