Toradol (Ketorolac)
Uses of the Drug
Toradol helps in treating products_description-term treatment of the medium – severe pain used along with some other medicines.
How to Take
Toradol should NOT be taken if:
- Toradol might be taken along with food in case stomach upsets occurs. Take it with food for preventing stomach upsets.
- This medicine should not be used for longer duration. Toradol cannot treat chronic pain or even mild-moderate (e.g., headache).

Drug Mechanism and Class
Toradol is considered to be an NSAID. It decreases inflammation by thwarting some chemicals (prostaglandins) produced by an injured tissue.
Missed Dose
If you ever miss a single dosage of Toradol, try taking it as early as you can. If it’s time for the next dosage, then the already missed dosage should be skipped. You can now follow the regular schedule of dosing. 2 doses should not be taken simultaneously.
Storage
Toradol should be stored at the room temperature somewhere between 20 to 25 degrees C (68 to 77 degrees F). It should be kept away from children and pets. Toradol should be stored away from light, moisture and heat.
Warnings Precautions
Toradol should NOT be taken if:
- you are prone to allergies to a single ingredient present in Toradol;
- you recently had allergies (e.g., hives, severe rash, dizziness, breathing difficulties,) to an NSAID or aspirin (e.g., naproxen, celecoxib ibuprofen,) ;
- you take any heparin, probenecid, methotrexate, aspirin, tacrolimus, or some other NSAID (e.g., celecoxib, ibuprofen); aminoglycoside (e.g., gentamicin),
- you breast-feed, in delivery or labor, or will have surgery;
- you are having a record of serious stomach problems (e.g., perforation, bleeding) or ulcers
- you are presently in the state of your third or second trimester of giving delivery;
- you are having serious kidney problems (including risk for kidney failure), or you are having bleeding problems (e.g., hemorrhage, stroke).
You should get in touch with the doctor very soon if you notice any of the above-mentioned problems.
Important:
- Toradol might cause dizziness. Don’t operate machinery, drive, or perform any such work that can cause harmful reactions with Toradol. Taking only Toradol, along with some other drugs, or along with alcohol might make you unable to perform any dangerous task or to drive.
- Toradol should not be taken along with anti-inflammatory drugs. This anti-inflammatory drug contains ibuprofen, aspirin, naproxen, and some other prescription medicines.
- If you are drinking above alcohol- 3 drinks per day, Toradol should not be taken without discussing with the doctor.
- Your dosage may need to be monitored in case you take bisphosphonates (e.g., alendronate), amphetamines (e.g., dextroamphetamine), or "water pills" (e.g., hydrochlorothiazide) or diuretics.
- Lab tests, like eye tests and total blood cell counts, might be required for monitoring the progress. Make sure of keeping the appointments.
- Children below 16 years should not take Toradol. The effectiveness and safety is not yet confirmed.
- Breast-feeding and Pregnancy: If you conceive while using Toradol, consult with the doctor about the risks and benefits of Toradol at this time. Don’t breast-feed when you take Toradol.
Common Side Effects
All medicines can have side effects. However, there are some people who have either less or no side effects. Check whether you have any of the side effects as mentioned below and in that case consult your doctor as soon as possible:
* diarrhea; dizziness; constipation; headache; drowsiness; gas; indigestion; nausea; mouth sores; stomach fullness; purple patches below the skin; stomach pain; swelling; sweating; vomiting.
You should consult your doctor immediately in case you have the serious side effects as mentioned below:
* Serious allergic reactions (hives; rash; itching; tightness in chest; difficulty in breathing; swelling of face, lips, mouth, or tongue); dark urine or pale stools; black stools; fluid retention; fainting; meningitis; hallucinations; persistent pounding in chest; abdominal / stomach pain; psychosis; seizures; rectal bleeding; continuing and severe nausea; stomach perforation; shortness of breath; tremors; ulcers; tightness in the chest; unusual fatigue; unusual bruising or bleeding; yellowing of eyes or skin; vomit like the coffee grounds.
