Drug Uses
Cafergot is used for treating of wide range of headaches and other ailments defined by doctor.
How Taken
Cafergot is taken by mouth, with or without food (please note that eating grapefruit or drinking grapefruit juice influences the action of the drug so try avoid consuming this products while taking Cafergot or at least consult your doctor).
To prevent headache take a dose of the drug after it’s first signs arrive, do not take the drug if there are no symptoms of headache. If the first dose does not help, you may take another, following the prescription of your doctor, but the interval between the doses must be no less than half an hour. Taking more than 6 pills for a single migraine attack is prohibited.
Please additionally consult the doctor if you have taken 10 pills during the week.
Drug Class and Mechanism
Cafergot is a vasoconstrictor that squeezes blood vessels in the brain and thus lessens the power of headaches.
Missed Dose
Take Cafergot anytime you feel the headache. Remember that the interval between the doses must be no less than 30 minutes. Taking 2 doses at once is prohibited.
Storage
Cafergot must be stored at room temperature (between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius, 68 and 77 degrees Fahrenheit) away from heat, light, moisture and their sources. Children and pets must not have an access to Cafergot.
Warnings Precautions
The use of Bupropion is not recommended if the patient:
- has and allergy to the ingredients of Cafergot;
- pregnant or plans to become pregnant;
- suffers from some blood vessel disorder (e.g. peripheral vascular disease), high blood pressure, kidney or liver ailment;
- has coronary heart disease;
- has some severe infection disease;
- takes any of the following drugs: delavirdine, efavirenz, a HIV protease inhibitor (e.g. ritonavir), azole antifungals (e.g. ketoconazole); ketolide or macrolide antibiotics (erythromycin, telithromycin, etc.); selective 5-HT agonists (e.g. sumatriptan).

Take attention to the following important notions:
- Cafergot is not meant for long-term use so do not take it regularly and do not exceed the prescribed dose.
- Cafergot is not used for treating of headaches of any type, so directly follow the instructions of doctor and to not take the drug without prescription.
- Nicotine may cause severe side effects of Cafergot, so the drug is not recommended to smoking persons, unless the doctor advices other.
- Cafergot was not tested to use for children so is not recommended for them. If you are going to give the drug to a child, be extremely cautious.
- Cafergot is prohibited to use in the periods of pregnancy or breast-feeding because the drug may harm the child.
- Do not take Cafergot during labor and delivery.
Possible Side Effects
The most common side effect of Cafergot is nausea. Please contact the doctor if it disturbs you.
Immediately seek for medical assistance if you are feeling the following serious side effects: severe allergic reactions of any nature (itching; difficult breath; swellings, etc.); cold, pale or blue fingers or toes; numbness of arms or feet; irregular, slow or fast heartbeat; severe or persistent nausea or vomiting; mental or behavior disorders; diarrhea or vomiting; muscle or chest pain; seizure; swelling; weak pulse; severe fits of giddiness; sound in the ears..
More Information
Use Cafergot only if it is prescribed for you. Do not advice to use it to other people and do not share it with other people even if their symptoms resemble to yours. If the drug does not help, the symptoms do not decrease or even are getting worse, consult the doctor.
