Antivert (Meclizine)
Drug Description
Antivert is prescribed for the management of nausea, vomiting, and dizziness associated with motion sickness.
Antivert may also be prescribed for the management of vertigo (a spinning sensation or a feeling that the ground is tilted) due to illnesses affecting the vestibular system (the bony labyrinth of the ear, which involves the sensors which are manipulating your balance).
Intake Instruction
Antivert is prescribed for taking under your doctors’ control.
For prevention of motion weariness, please take the medicine at least an hour before activity or travel.
Please take the medicine by mouth with meals or without it.
Make sure to take Antivert exactly as prescribed on the package, unless instructed otherwise by your health care provider. In case you are taking Antivert without doctors’ prescription, please make sure to follow any safety warnings and precautions which are presented on the label.

Drug Category and Mechanism
Antivert represents a class of an anticholinergic. It functions by blocking a chemical messenger in the brain, which assists in the reduction or prevention of emesis.
Missed Dose
Should you miss a dose of this medicine please take it asap. If you find you have missed the previous dosage when it is almost time for your next dose, you should better skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Taking double or extra doses at once is not recommended. If more than one dose is missed, please contact your attending medical doctor or health care provider.
Storage
The best conditions to keep the medicine at are to store them room temperature 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C). Brief storage at temperatures between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) is allowed. The container where the medicine is stored should be tightly closed. It should be also strictly protected from moisture, heat and light.
Please make sure to keep Antivert out of the reach of children and pets.
Safety Precautions
Taking Antivert is not recommended in case:
you have allergies to medicines, its components, foods, or other essences;
you are being in the treatment process with sodium oxybate (GHB).
Please inform your health care provider if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of these are applicable to you.
Crucial information:
Amantadine may cause giddiness, vertigo as well as changes in vision. The mentioned effects can undergo worsening in case you take it simultaneously with alcohol or some categories of medicines. Please make sure to take Antivert with caution.
Make sure not to drive or make other possibly dangerous tasks until you know what your reaction to it is.
Make sure not to take alcohol beverages or use preparates which may cause giddiness (e.g., sleep aids, muscle relaxers) in the process you are taking Antivert; as it may add to their effects. Please consult your doctor if you have queries on which medicines may cause vertigo.
This product may include tartrazine dye. It can be reason for allergic reaction in some patients. If you show allergic reaction to tartrazine, please immediately turn to your doctor’s advice if your product includes tartrazine in it as a component.
The medicine should not be used in children under 12 years of age; safety and effectiveness in this age category have not been yet confirmed.
Taking the medicine is not recommended in case:
pregnant or planning to become
breast-feeding mothers
Please discuss the benefits and risks of using the medicine while you are pregnant. It is not yet explored whether Antivert outfalls into breast milk or not. In case you are or plan to be breast-feeding in the process of treatment with Antivert, please turn to your physician for an advice. Consult your doctor for possible risks to your fetus.
Probable Side Effects
Please consult with your health care provider immediately if any of these safety tips are applicable to you:
giddiness; dry mouth.
Seek your doctor’ assistance immediately if any of these symptoms occur:
austere allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; hard breathing; tenseness in the thorax; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, as well as tongue).
