Drug Uses
Prednisolone helps to treat skin conditions, allergies, blood problems, collagen diseases, eye diseases, cancer, endocrine problems, arthritis, problems with breathing, intestinal problems , swelling. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
How Taken
Take the medication as determined by your doctor. Read the medicine label for precise dosing instructions carefully. As a rule, Prednisolone is taken by mouth with food or without it. In case you have a stomach upset, it should be taken with food for reducing the irritation of stomach. Use the drug with a glass of water following the directions of your doctor.

Drug Class and Mechanism
This remedy, being a corticosteroid, modifyes immune reaction of the body to different conditions. Prednisolone decreases inflammations as well.
Missed Dose
If you omit a dose of Prednisolone, take it immediately. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up. Then go back to your usual schedule.
Storage
Keep the medication at 25 degrees C (77 degrees F). Shott-period keeping between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F) is allowed as well. Keep in a hermetic and light-resistant container. Store it away from light, heat and moisture. Do not store it in the bathroom. Save this remedy beyond the reach of children and pets.
Warnings Precautions
You must not use Prednisolone in the following cases:
you have allergies to its ingredients;
you are currently using mifepristone;
you have a malaria, systemic fungal infection, optic nerve inflammation, herpes;
you are planning an attenuated live vaccination.
Contact your health care provider/doctor immediately in case some of these apply to you.
Important:
While taking Prednisolone your body’s ability act against various infections may be decreased. You are adviced not to contact with people who with a certain type of infection. Inform doctor as soon as you feel rash, chills, fever, sore throat.
You are forbidden to have a live vaccine while using this medication. Inform your doctor before receiving some vaccination.
Before you have any medical or dental treatments, emergency care, or surgery, tell the doctor or dentist that you are using this medicine.
This medicine may influence levels of blood sugar. You should control your blood sugar regularly.
Laboratory tests may be made when you take Prednisolone. Such tests (eg., a test for adrenal function) help to control your health condition and check side effects. You should not avoid all laboratory and doctor appointments.
Prednisolone is not very safe for use in children, provided children use this medication, you have to give it to them with caution.
On condition you suspect you are pregnant, contact your doctor immediately. You should discuss all benefits and risks of taking Prednisolone during your pregnancy. It is not known whether Prednisolone passes into human breast milk and may have undesirable effects on a nursing infant. Stop breast-feeding while using this drug.
Possible Side Effects
All medicines may provoke certain side effects. Nevertherless, many people have no/ minor side effects. Contact your doctor if any of these side effects take place:
headache; increasing of appetite; nausea; nervousness; sleeplessness; stomach upset; acne; flushing of face; body discomfort; clumsiness; dizziness.
Ask for medical attention immediately in case any of these serious side effects take place:
serious allergic reactions (chest tightness; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue; rash; hives; difficulty breathing); feet/legs swelling; menstrual period changes; changed colour of skin; pain in chest; body fat changes; changes of mood changes; pain in muscles; weakness; seizures; nausea; vomiting; headache; bruising/bleeding; infection; bone pain; increased skin sensation; rapid gain of weight; vision problems;
stools changes.
More Information
Prednisolone should be taken only by those patients for whom it is prescribed. You should not give it to others.
