Drug Instructions
Avandia is prescribed for the treatment type 2 diabetes in some patients. The medicine is advised to be used along with diet and exercise. It may be used alone or with other antidiabetic medicines.
Intake Instruction

Avandia has an extra patient information sheet named a Medication Guide. Make sure to follow the intake instruction on your prescription label thoroughly and ask your doctor or pharmacist to clarify on your issues.
Please take the medicine by mouth with meals or without it.
Do not stop taking Avandia even if you feel obvious improvement.
Missing any doses of the medicine is not recommended. Taking Avandia at fixed times each day will help you to keep the schedule of taking it.
Drug Category and Mechanism
Avandia represents a category of thiazolidinedione antidiabetic. It decreases blood sugar by making the cells of the body more vulnerable to the action of insulin.
Missed Dose
Should you miss a dose of this medicine please take it asap. If you find you have missed the previous dosage when it is almost time for your next dose, you should better skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Taking double or extra doses at once is not recommended. If more than one dose is missed, please contact your attending medical doctor or health care provider.
Storage
The best conditions to keep the medicine at are to store them at 77 degrees F (25 degrees C). The container where the medicine is stored should be tightly closed. Brief storage between 59-86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) is allowed. The medicine should be also strictly protected from moisture, heat and light.

Insulin or nitrates (eg, nitroglycerin) as the risk of heart troubles may be high levelled
Gemfibrozil or oral antidiabetic medicines (eg, glipizide) as the risk of low blood sugar may be increased
Rifampin as it may make Avandia 's potency, resulting in increased blood sugar
Anticoagulants (eg, warfarin) as their potency may be low levelled or the risk of their side effects may be increased by Avandia

Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; hard breathing; tenseness in the thorax; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); vision changes; thorax pain; anemia of an arm or leg; austere headache, stomach pain, or vomiting; symptoms of heart problems (eg, insufficiency of breath; rapid unwanted weight gain; swelling of the hands, ankles, or feet); unexplainable emesis, vomiting, appetite loss; stomach pain); symptoms of low blood sugar (eg, anxiety, make high level of sweating, giddiness or somnolence, headache, chills, shaking, increased hunger); uncommon bone pain; uncommon tiredness or weariness.
