Drug Instruction
Pamelor is prescribed for the treatment of depression. The medicine may also be determined for other medical conditions as advised by your doctor.
Intake Instructions
Please use the medicine under you health care provider’s strict control. Necessarily perform a check up of the label on the medicine for learning exact dosing instructions. Swallow Pamelor whole. Please note that crushing and chewing the medicine before swallowing is not recommended.
Continue to take Pamelor even if you feel the actual improvement of symptoms. Please take care not to miss any doses. Remember that taking Pamelor at fixed times each day will make you to remember the intake of it.

Drug Category and Mechanism
Pamelor represents a category of a tricyclic antidepressant. It effects via increasing the activity of some categories of chemicals in the brain that assist to make higher the mood.
Missed Dose
Should you miss a dose of this medicine please take it asap. If you find you have missed the previous dosage when it is almost time for your next dose, you should better skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Taking double or extra doses at once is not recommended. If more than one dose is missed, please contact your attending medical doctor or health care provider.
Storage
Please store the medicine between 59 and 77 degrees F (15 and 25 degrees C). The container where the medicine is stored should be tightly closed. It should be also strictly protected from moisture, heat and light. Please make sure to retain the medicine away from pets and children.
Safety Precautions
Taking the medicine is not recommended in case:
you have allergic reactions to any component in Pamelor;
you have been treated furazolidone or a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) (e.g., phenelzine) within the last 14 days, or you are taking astemizole, droperidol, or terfenadine;
you are recovering from a recent heart failure.
Some medical conditions may interact with the medicine. Inform your health care provider or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following are applicable to you:
you are pregnant/planning to become pregnant
you are a breast-feeding mother
you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine,
you are passing the treatment course with herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
you have allergic reactions to medicines, foods, or other substances
you have kidney or liver problems, convulsions, the blood disease porphyria, or hard urinating
you have a history of suicidal thoughts or attempts, bipolar dysfunctions, or any other mental disorders; you are undergoing electroshock therapy; you are scheduled to have any surgery
There are some MEDICINES that step into INTERACTION with the medicine. Please inform your health care provider if you take some medicines, including:
Azole antifungals (eg, fluconazole), cimetidine, duloxetine, flecainide, methylphenidate, mibefradil, phenothiazines (eg, chlorpromazine), propafenone, quinidine, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) (eg, fluoxetine), or terbinafine because they may increase the risk of Pamelor 's side effects
Arsenic, astemizole, droperidol, furazolidone, MAOIs (eg, phenelzine), quinolone antibiotics (eg, ciprofloxacin), terfenadine, or tramadol as the risk of high blood pressure, austere heart problems (eg, uncommon heartbeat), or convulsions may grow
Barbiturates (eg, phenobarbital) or phenytoin because they may low level Pamelor 's effectiveness
Anticholinergics (eg, benztropine), carbamazepine, chlorpropamide, or sympathomimetics (eg, phenylephrine) because the risk of their side effects may be high levelled by Pamelor
Clonidine, guanethidine, as their effectiveness may be lessened by Pamelor
Probable Side Effects
Please discuss with your health care provider if any of the mentioned most COMMON side effects afterglow or become or causing bother:
Giddiness and vertigo; sore mouth; excitement; headache; sex impotence; emesis; nightmares; pupil dilation; extreme sensitivity to sunlight; sweating; weariness; upset stomach; retching; vertigo, weight loss or gain.
Please inform your health care provider if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the below – provided are applicable to you:
Austere allergic reactions (rash; hives; pruritic condition; hard breathing; tenseness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); bloody stools; changes in vision; bulging soft spots in infants; an abnormally high body temperature; headache; high level pressure in the head; excitement of the pancreas (increased pulse, emesis, stomach tenseness, retching); joint pain;
fainting; fast, slow, or uncommon heartbeat; fever; fast or hard urination; hallucinations; impulsive behavior or other uncommon changes in behavior; jaw, neck, or muscle convulsions; mental or mood changes (e.g., high level of anxiety, mood swings, agitation, irritability, irritability, restlessness); panic conditions; ringing in the ears; convulsions; austere giddiness or drowsiness; sore throat; stomach pain; suicidal thinking or attempts; swelling of the testicles; shaking; hard sleeping; trouble walking or keeping your concentration; twitching of the face or tongue; unintentional movements of arms and legs or stiffness; uncommon bleeding or bruising; worsening of depression; yellowing of the skin or eyes.
