Drug Description
Benadryl is prescribed for preventing or treating symptoms of hay fever. It is also prescribed for the treatment of other upper respiratory allergies or the general cold category, such as runny nose, sternutation, itching of the nose and throat, watery eyes and other.
Benadryl may be able to relieve itching of the skin as well and have a positive impact on allergic skin irritations. The medicine used for the treatment and prevention of motion weariness. Benadryl can also be prescribed for other medical conditions as advised preliminary by your pysician.
Intake Instructions
Benadryl is prescribed for taking under your doctors’ control.
You can take Benadryl with or without food.
Make sure to intake Benadryl exactly as prescribed on the package, unless advised otherwise by your physician or attending doctor. In case you are being treated with Benadryl without a prescription, please necessarily follow any safety instructions on the label.
For prevention of motion weariness: Please make sure to intake the medicine least 30 minutes before activity or travel.

Drug Category and Mechanism
Benadryl represents an antihistamine and anticholinergic. The medicine functions by blocking the action of histamine, which results in decreasing the symptoms of an allergic reaction. Preparate also works in the brain to enable sedation.
Missed Dose
Should you miss a dose of this medicine please take it asap. If you find you have missed the previous dosage when it is almost time for your next dose, you should better skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Taking double or extra doses at once is not recommended. If more than one dose is missed, please contact your attending medical doctor or health care provider.
Storage
The best conditions to keep the medicine at are to store them at 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C) at room temperature. Brief periods at temperatures of 59 to 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) are allowed. The container where the medicine is stored should be tightly closed. It should be also strictly protected from moisture, heat and light.
Please make sure to keep the medicine away from children and pets.
Safety Precautions
Taking the medicine is not recommended in case:
you have allergic reaction to any component in Benadryl or other 5 alpha-reductase inhibitors (e.g., finasteride) ;
you are breast - feeding
you Benafryl allergic reaction to any component in this medicine or other similar medicines
you are treated with sodium oxybate (GHB)
you are taking/ have taken a monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor (eg, phenelzine) in the past 14 days
you are a breast-feeding mother

Some MEDICINES MAY step into INTERACTION with Benadryl. Please inform your health care provider if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of these are applicable to you.
Sodium oxybate (GHB) as an occurrence of high level in sleep duration and a low level in the ability to breathe are likely to happen
MAO inhibitors (eg, phenelzine) as they can cause austere, sometimes fatal, reactions. Make sure NOT take MAO inhibitors within 2 weeks of being treated with Benadryl.
Probable Side Effects

giddiness; weariness; dry mouth, throat, and nose; irritability; thickening of mucus in nose or throat.
